Master Bedroom Art and updates

I love our new house, BUT the ceilings are so much taller than our last house so everything we owned looks so tiny now.  I have been in the process of updating this over the last 2 years!  I went to am amazing vintage sale last week and got a steal of a deal on some art!  I am super picky when it comes to art, but I love beautiful frames and these were perfect!  They are distressed black with tiny gold beads around the border and the mattes are stunning!  Custom matting is so important!
Originally they retailed for $348 each!!!!  INSANE....but I was able to get both art prints for $49 at the sale!!!  That works for me :)
So....although I love the frames and the dog prints were cute...they are not my style.  Time to change them out.  I had bought an antique French wedding document at an antique store a long time ago and had no idea what I was going to do with it at the time, but this was the perfect thing!

So I removed the dog prints and added this document.  I tore it in half and framed each side.  I love the official stamp on it.
The scale of these frames is much better for the size of our room and ceilings.
Here is the before of our room:
Here is the after:
I still need to add another mirror behind the other nightstand, but this room is close to done!
Here are some more pics

Here are some other examples of how I update our furniture since the scale was so off in the new house.
Here is our master bedroom in our old house....the nightstands looked great and I loved them

Here are those same nightstands in our bedroom in the new house compared to the new nightstands we got....
You can see how much better the new ones look.  I have since added a mirror behind one of the nightstands, but I need another one on the other side.  I LOVE our new nightstands!  They are so beautiful and I love all the storage.  Here are some detail shots of them.
Same thing happened with the mirror above my dresser.
Here is a photo of it in our old house
and here is a side by side picture of the old mirror and the new mirror in our new bedroom.

Scale is so important.  I will show you more updates and I continue to update our old décor to fit our new house.
Thanks for stopping by!

Yummy Appetizers Part 2

Yesterday I shared 2 of my favorite dips with you and today I am going to share 2 more of my favorite appetizers to make for a party.  Again...super yummy and so simple!

*photos from food.com*

FIRE CRACKERS
Ingredients:
1 gallon zip lock bag
1 box unsalted saltines (4 sleeves)
1 1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 ranch powder packets
3-4 TBS crushed red pepper...2-3 TBS if you can't take the heat
1 TBS garlic salt
1 TBS onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1 TBS black pepper

Place all ingredients (minus the crackers) in zip lock bag and mix around so everything is in the oil.  Next add the saltines to the bag shaking a little between each sleeve so all crackers are covered.  After all the crackers are in (I usually leave out about 10 so there is extra room for shaking) seal the bag and shake like crazy.  Lay the bag on one side and then 30 minutes flip it over.  Leave crackers to soak overnight and then enjoy the next day!

Pumpernickel Cheese Melt
Ingredients:
pumpernickel bread
Swiss cheese shredded
mayo-enough to stick ingredients together
bacon bits-Oscar Meyer bag
green onion-chopped

Shred the entire block of Swiss cheese, add the entire bag of bacon bits, chopped green onions (as much as you would like) and about 1.25 cups of mayo (just enough to make everything stick together well) in a bowl and mix well.
Cut the bread into thirds and place on baking sheet.  Place large spoonful of cheese mixture on bread pieces (pile it tall so it melts nicely)
Set oven to 400 and cook until cheese browns (8-10 min)
